Anal Sex Homosexuality and America

Homosexuality, gays and the legal issues concerning sodomy are all hot topics of conversation nowdays in America. In the last decade public opinion concerning homosexuality and anal sex has changed drastically and subjects which were once taboo, are now the fodder of award-winning prime time television shows. As the homosexual community has now established itself as a valid part of American society, the topics of anal sex and homosexuality are less controversial and more open to discussion.

Anal sex, or in more vulgar vernacular sodomy or buggery, is an incredibly pleasurable experience for both men and women as the anus and rectum are lined with over 10,000 nerve endings--the clitoris by comparison has barely 7,000 nerve endings, you do the math. With a little lube, patience, and consent, discovering back door pleasures will help you round out your sexual repertoire. Once you become more comfortable with the idea of anal sex and other anal play such as analingus, explore using anal plugs and probes for anal sex play or anal masturbation to help stimulate the prostate gland in men and thus intensify the orgasmic response for your partner.

According to medical science, the pleasure derived from anal sex is so intense because the brain associates anal sex with life sustaining survival mechanisms. Odd? Yes, but Brenda Love, author of the Encyclopedia of Unusual Sex Practices, explains that "the anus, in addition to its response to tactile stimulation, is a sensory area that produces a pleasure response in the brain when stimulated. Primal man evolved so that a pleasure sensation would occur in the brain whenever he engaged in a life sustaining body function. This encouraged men to eat until full, drink, sleep, urinate, defecate, and so forth. An example of this reaction is the kiss. Men have discovered that stimulation of the mouth during sex produces a euphoric chemical reaction for what our body thinks is eating. The nipples and ears are also utilized in this manner without much guilt or shame; however, using the anus in sexual activity [like anal sex], is taboo in some cultures, ours included. Clinically there is no difference between stimulation of the mouth, ears, nipples, feet, or anus in the production of pleasure sensations to the brain. None of these activities have a direct role in reproduction so it seems inconsistent for people to accept some and not all points of arousal in sexual activity."

Given that anal sex has peen practiced throughout history for pleasure, birth control, and to preserve virginity, it is odd that the practice of anal sex is not more commonly advertised and appreciated. The United States restricted anal sex and in some states the practice of anal sex is considered illegal for moral and ethical reasons. Recently in Lawrence v. Texas, the law against sodomy was reversed, which was a monumental advance for the homosexual community and for those couples who enjoy anal sex. CNN.com reported on March 26, 2003:"We're now dealing with a very small handful of statutes in a circumstance where the country, whatever its attitudes toward discrimination based on sexual orientation, (has reached) a broad consensus that what happens in the privacy of the bedroom between consenting adults is simply none of the state's business." As recently as 1960, every state had a sodomy law. In 37 states, the statutes have been repealed by lawmakers or blocked by state courts. Of the 13 states with sodomy laws, four--Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri--prohibit "deviate sexual intercourse," or oral and anal sex, between same-sex couples. The other nine ban consensual sodomy for everyone: Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah and Virginia." This victory gives hope that with time and perseverance the political climate regarding sodomy or anal sex will fall in step with the current wave of enthusiasm and tolerance where anal sex, sodomy and homosexuality are concerned. Maybe one day America will truly become the land of the free.
